Winter Equestrian Festival

The Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) attracts top riders from around the world every January through to March. For those of us in Great Britain, who are typically dealing with cold, wet and wintery conditions at this time of year, heading off to the sunshine state sounds incredibly appealing, with temperatures in the 20s most days.

Where is the Winter Equestrian Festival located?

The WEF circuit is held at Wellington International, 3400 Equestrian Club Drive Wellington, FL 33414. It has numerous competition rings, with associated warm-up areas.

Wellington International hosts jumping classes from young horses right up to international five-star classes, plus hunters and equitation.

The second venue, the Equestrian Village, is nearby and holds the Adequan Global Dressage Festival (AGDF). Occasionally, just to confuse things, jumping takes place here too. The dressage classes also run from national level right up to a CDI5*.

How long is the Winter Equestrian Festival?

The WEF circuit includes 13 weeks of international showjumping and the dressage lasts for 1o weeks. Technically it’s a series of different shows, running from Wednesday to Sunday each week.

How many horses are at WEF?

More than 6000 horses compete at the show over the 13 weeks and there are over 250 permanent stables on site to keep them happily housed.
