The defending World Cup jumping champion is France’s Julien Epaillard, who won at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland, riding Donatello d’Auge.
What’s the format of the World Cup Jumping Final?
The Longines FEI World Cup Jumping final kicks off with a Table C (speed) class over a 1.60m course on the first day of competition. Any combinations who retire or are eliminated in this class will take no further part in the final.
On the second day, the remaining horse and rider combinations will jump one round against the clock, followed by a jump-off over fences up to 1.60m high.
The third day is a rest day, before the 30 best-placed combinations (plus any ties) come forward on day four for the first of two rounds over a 1.60m grand prix course.
The top 20 (plus any ties) will go forward to the second and final round of the final, where the results will be decided.
The two rounds on the final day will have a similar number of fences and distance, but the second round will be more challenging to decide the champion.
