She has also earned team bronze and individual medals at European Championships and team silver at the Paris Olympics.
Born in January 1992, Cathrine began riding at age five in a riding school, where she met her future trainer, Rune Willem. She first appeared on the international stage at 14, competing at the 2006 pony European Championships on Moonlight. In 2010, she and her family acquired Atterupgaards Cassidy, the horse who would become her partner for more than a decade of championship success.
With Cassidy, Cathrine won 11 European Championship medals as a junior and young rider, before making her senior grand prix debut in 2015. They were selected for the 2016 Rio Olympics, finishing 13th, and quickly rose to prominence with triple medals at the 2017 European Championships, taking double individual bronze and team silver.
Despite missing the 2018 World Equestrian Games due to Cassidy’s injury, Cathrine returned stronger in 2019, earning individual bronze in the grand prix special at the European Championships in Rotterdam. Around the same time, she brought Bohemian into the spotlight, riding him at the Tokyo Olympics, where they finished fourth both individually and with the team. Just weeks later, the pair captured team bronze and two individual medals at the 2021 European Championships in Hagen.
Cathrine’s 2022 season was highlighted by her decision to ride the talented Vamos Amigos at the World Championships on home soil in Denmark. Together, they helped secure team gold for Denmark, while Cathrine added individual silver medals in both the special and freestyle.
In October 2023, she took over the ride on Mount St John Freestyle, was part of the bronze medal-winning British side at the 2018 World Equestrian Games with Charlotte Dujardin.
Together, the pair went on to spearhead the Danish team to a team silver at the 2024 Paris Olympics and place fifth in the freestyle. In March 2025, Cathrine was ranked first in the FEI Dressage World Rankings.
Beyond the arena, Cathrine runs a training and sales stable in Fredensborg, Denmark, alongside her wife, showjumper Rasmine Laudrup, whom she married in 2021. She has adopted the surname Laudrup-Dufour and competes under her new name.
In May 2025, Rasmine gave birth to the couple’s first child, a daughter called Palma.
