Sloothaak off to strong Sheffield start
Franke Sloothaak stamped his authority on the opening leg of the British Open, but Britain's Robert Smith is also in flying form in Sheffield
The British Open Show Jumping Championships were organised by Grandstand Event Management from 2003 to 2010. The event was first held at the Sheffield Hallam Arena and relocated to the NEC, Birmingham, in 2007. The show was mothballed ahead of the 2011 show having failed to make a profit on any of the previous eight runnings.
