Theft forces RDA centre to close

  • Police are appealing for witnesses after around £10,000-worth of tack was stolen from a Riding for the Disabled (RDA) centre in Bedfordshire last week. The theft has forced the temporary closure of the centre.

The Elisabeth Curtis Centre in Bromham — used by more than 100 disabled children and adults — was targeted between 7pm on Wednesday, 12 September and 8am the next day.

Groom Gayl Sadler discovered that nine full sets of tack and six spare saddles had been taken.

She said: “It’s pretty mean. There’s a huge sign saying that we’re a disabled school. We’ve had to close until we receive insurance money.”

The school has now installed a steel door and reinforced window bars on the tackroom to help prevent any repeat of the theft.

If you have any information call the police (tel: 01234 841212).
