Lifeboat crews attempt to save stranded horse

  • A horse has died after getting stuck at the base of a cliff.

Lifeboat crews were called in at 12.30pm on Saturday (14 February) to rescue the horse, which had become stranded off the coast of South Pembrokeshire.

The lifeboat and coastguard teams worked for five hours to try to rescue the horse.

The animal was stuck among large boulders at the base of the cliffs near East Blockhouse Point and Rat Island.

Ted Goddard from Angle RNLI Lifeboat said: “Despite brave attempts to save the horse, a vet had to be called in and sadly the distressed animal was put down.”
