Britain’s Laura Bechtolsheimer triumphed in the grand prix at Hagen CDI, Germany (27 April-1 May) riding Mistral Hojris. She went on to finish ninth in Mistral Hojriss first grand prix freestyle. Laura also competed Don Davidoff in the prix st george, scoring 63.2%.
At Saumur CDIO in France (3-6 May), Fiona Bigwood led the British challenge for the Nations Cup on Mr G De Lully. The Swedish-bred 14-year-old finished third with 69.042%, helping the team to fourth place.
First-time Nations Cup team members Anna Ross-Davies with Liebling II and Nicola Jourdain with Saint Swithens put in promising performances. Anna and Liebling were sixth with 70.45% in the kür. Nicola built on 12th place in the grand prix to finish eighth in the special and went on to score 69.25% in the kür.

She has reported for Horse & Hound from major championships including Europeans and World Equestrian Games. She has co-written books on horses and horse sport including The Complete Illustrated Encyclopedia of Horses & Ponies. She has owned and ridden horses since 1993, and worked for and trained with Olympic gold medallist event rider Leslie Law prior to going to university.
