Suzi Lewis-Barned
Freelance writer
Suzi grew up in Oxfordshire and has been a keen equestrian since the age of seven. Her introduction to the world of horses began with Bino, a retired circus pony. Suzi spent much of her childhood and teen years taking part in Pony Club activities and eventing. After gaining a degree in English literature, she became a journalist and researcher for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.
Since having children, Suzi has been based in Sussex where she has returned to riding alongside freelance writing for health, lifestyle and equestrian publications. She became a “Pony Club mum” to her daughter, supporting her as she specialised in dressage. More recently, Suzi has written children’s books based on some of their special ponies, including Casper’s Magic Wings, which deals with bullying, and Ned Gets Worried, which looks at ways to manage anxiety.
Suzi also spends much of her spare time exercising her two German shorthaired pointers, Maisie and her daughter Margot.
