Want to see pictures of the Mars Badminton Horse Trials first trot-up this afternoon (6 May)? Of course you do! We just can’t get enough of the five-star horses and riders as they prepare to take on this week of elite competition.
While the inspection serves the serious purpose of checking all the horses are fit to start the competition, it’s also something of a fashion parade. Here’s our pick of the outfits…
Young US rider Cosby Green caught the eye in a white and green dress as she trotted up Heather Morris’ Jos Ufo De Quidam.

The prize for best-dressed female rider from Hiho Silver went to Emily King, who wore a blue jumpsuit with a statement collar to trot up her own and her father David’s Valmy Biats.

Bubby Upton stood out in a red suit and black boots as she ran alongside her ride Cola, who is owned by her mother Rachel.

Wills Oakden leant into his Scottish side as he led Keep It Cooley for Elspeth and Geoff Adam.

Georgie Goss’s floaty white and pale pink dress drew admiration as she presented Feloupe, who is owned by her rider, Suzanne Doggett, Lucy Fleming and Kelly Holmes.

Another rising star for the US, Cassie Sanger, came forward in a pale blue and white dress with her own Redfield Fyre.

She was followed by Ireland’s Lucy Latta, who cut a smart figure in a short jacket, black trousers and sunglasses. She and the Crampton’s RCA Patron Saint were runners-up here in 2024.

Kylie Roddy wore a brown suit with a cream bow in her hair as she trotted up Anne and Colin Fox’s SRS Kan Do.

Will Rawlin cut a dash in a double breasted suit as he came forward with his own and his parents Andrew and Miranda’s Ballycoog Breaker Boy.

Fiona Kashel paired a pink waistcoat and trousers with a white blouse as she presented her own Creevagh Silver De Haar.

Marcio Carvalho Jorge is the sole Brazilian rider and he looked smart in a dark suit and red tie as he brought forward Royal Encounter, owned by his rider and Alastair, Annabel and Ken Vere Nicoll.

Daisy Berkeley stood out in a bright pink coat, matched with white jeans and boots, as she returns to Badminton after some years away. Her ride is her own, her mother Caroline Dick and Camilla Case’s Diese Du Figuier.

France’s Gaspard Maksud, who rides Martin Thurlow and Jane Young’s Zaragoza, received a special award for his characterful outfit.
