Injured eventer updates supporters on recovery

  • Eventer Ruth Mathieson, injured in a freak fall at Nurstead Court Horse Trials in April, continues to make good progress during her rehabilitation at Stoke Mandeville.

Ruth is proving to be a prolific tweeter and is keeping her many supporters updated on her recovery — as well as some of the lighter aspects of hospital life.

On Sunday she tweeted: “Stop the press don’t tell anyone…I’ve escaped…local pub for lunch, awesome!”

The rider, who took a career break shortly before her accident to focus on eventing, has been undergoing gym, physio and hydrotherapy at the world-famous spinal unit. Although H&H understands Ruth’s long-term prognosis remains unclear, she is clearly in good spirits.
